May 2 The 2008 Jane Addams Children's Book Awards have been announced. Books chosen "effectively promote the cause of peace, social justice, world community, and the equality of the sexes and all races as well as meeting conventional standards for excellence."

 

 

 

Rat Life by Tedd Arnold is the winner of the Edgar Award for best young adult mystery.

April 11 The winners of the 2008 Book Sense Book of the Year Awards have been announced. These titles are recognized by independent booksellers of children's books.

April 10 The winners of the E. B. White Read Aloud Awards have been announced.
The picture book winner is When Dinosaurs Came with Everything by Elise Broach, illustrated by David Small.
The winner for older readers is The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart.
